چکیده

This paper proposes the Ring-TCM coded Amplifyand-Forward (AF) cooperative system, achieving both high spectral efficiency and optimized performance. In a cooperative communication network, individual users are encouraged not only to transmit their own data, but also relay other user’s data. This relaying transmission creates spatial diversity to combat the effect of individual severe fading and path loss. Since cooperative users utilize some degree of their transmission freedom for relaying other user’s data, cooperative transmission results in lowering each user’s spectral efficiency. Therefore, a coding scheme with both high spectral efficiency and optimized performance in fading channel would be desirable for a cooperative network. RingTrellis Coded Modulation (TCM) codes is the one of the most suitable schemes to be chosen. Two Ring-TCM coded AF cooperative systems achieving 1 bits / symbol and 1.5 bits / symbol for each user are presented. Our simulation results show that based on achieving the same spectral efficiency, the Ring-TCM codes can achieve a better diversity gain than simply combining a convolutional code with the high order modulation schemes in a cooperative AF scenario.

Polarization of Multi-Relay Channels: A Suitable Method for DF and CF Relaying with Orthogonal Receiver

Polar codes, that have been recently introduced by Arikan, are one of the first codes that achieved the capacity for vast numerous channels and they also have low complexity in symmetric memoryless channels. Polar codes are constructed based on a phenomenon called channel polarization. This paper discusses relay channel polarization in order to achieve the capacity and show that if inputs of tw...

Amplify-forward and decode-forward cooperation relying on systematic Luby transform coded hybrid automatic-repeat-request

Systematic Luby transform (SLT) codes constitute rateless codes, which are capable of adaptively adjusting their code rate depending on the channel quality without any explicit channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters. SLTs are also suitable for space time collaboration-aided relay networks. In this study, an iterative decoding-aided SLT scheme is combined with 16 quadrature amplitud...

A Comparative Study of Amplify-and-Forward and Zero-Forcing Relaying with Different Power Constraints

Cooperating nodes in wireless networks need to be power-efficient because once they deployed, as in sensor networks, they might not be recharged or replaced. The choice of relaying technique, therefore, becomes a crucial design parameter. Our work provides a detailed comparative performance analysis of amplify-and-forward and zeroforcing relaying. Our results give valuable insights into the rob...

Performance Analysis of Hybrid Coded Cooperation in Wireless Networks

Relay-assisted transmission schemes for wireless networks are continuing to grow because of their potential of providing the benefits of space diversity. This paper applies hybrid relaying protocols to coded cooperation which is a combined scheme of user cooperation and channel codes. The hybrid relaying protocol adaptively uses the amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward whether a relay dec...
